Mission, Vision & Values

Background

St Hilary’s Kew was founded in 1888 and St Silas’ North Balwyn in 1954.  In 2005 they amalgamated to create the Parish of Kew/North Balwyn.  In 2009 the Church of the Living Stone joined the Parish and the Anglican Diocese of Melbourne.  The Parish is now known as St Hilary’s Kew/North Balwyn.

Our Mission

Making, maturing and mobilising disciples of Jesus Christ.

Our Vision

By 2013 we will be a growing and multiplying church with a local and global concern and a clearer focus on making, maturing and mobilising disciples, especially through our ministries with children and families, youth and young adults and mature adults.

This vision will be expressed in the following new initiatives:

  • Developing a more defined ministry with seniors
  • Building new ministries for mission amongst mature adults
  • Establishing a new families’ congregation in North Balwyn in 2011
  • Establishing a new off-site congregation by 2013
  • Starting a Discipleship and Training Centre in 2011 to support existing and future ministries.

In response to God’s love, in the name of Christ and under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we will:

  • Celebrate God’s goodness in our worship together
  • Be shaped by the teaching and study of the Bible
  • Gather regularly in congregations and small groups
  • Proclaim the gospel in word and deed in our local communities
  • Actively partner with people and agencies joined in God’s global mission
  • Show cross-cultural engagement in all ministries, especially through the Living Stone Congregation
  • Equip people of all ages for leadership, service and witness within the church and wherever we live, work, study and play.

    Our Values

St Hilary’s has six core values:

    Biblical
