St Hilary’s is a big church and it costs a fair bit of money to run all our services, programs and facilities. The bible teaches that if you’re a committed member of a church then you need to support that church with your time, prayers and money.
We have a handful of ways that people can give, so that we can make it as easy as possible to help you to give regularly.
The traditional “offertory” that happens in all services each week is the easiest way to give on a Sunday is via cash or cheque (made out to “St Hilary’s Anglican Church”). As the bowl is passed around, you can put in your “Get connected” slip (which tears off your newsletter), along with any financial offertory you’d like to contribute.
If you are like most of us, and busy, you might find it hard to remember to bring cash with you each sunday, so might like to think about other options for giving.
1. Become a St Hilary’s Financial Partner.
You can download a Financial Partnership form for more about this, but in a nutshell, we are asking our church to give an indication as to how much each individual is planning to give for the year. This achieves a few things – it helps you to pray and reflect on your current situation, and allows you to adjust your giving for next year. It also helps our staff team and church council to make informed decisions about the ministries and programs that we will undertake in the future. Twice a year we will communicate with you directly bringing you information about our finances and a statement of your giving to assist you.
2. Give Electronically
Giving Electronically makes a lot of sense. It’s convenient, and simple, and can be set up to periodically make payments on your behalf to St Hilary’s straight from your bank account or credit card. Download a Financial Partnership form for all the details you need to set this up.
3. Giving Envelopes
If you are happier giving via cash or cheque, and would like to do this in a regular ordered way, you might like to give via the Envelope System. We will arrange for you to receive numbered envelopes, making it easy for you to track your giving, and these can be given into the Offertory on a monthly basis.
We hope this gives each of our members an easy way to support the work that the church is seeking to do, and believe that it is a blessing and a privilege to be able to give generously to the church and those in need. 15% of our offertory goes to charities and ministries beyond St. Hilary’s.
If you would like to speak with someone further about giving financially to St Hilary’s, please phone Doug Crocket at the church office (98167100) or email him directly.
